intelligence that stopped the plot from taking place. pentagon officials say the plot involving using a bomb inside a passenger's underwear to blow up an airline. it may have been discovered through newer full-bodied scanners depending on the skill of the tsa agent. it's believed to be the work of alsili. he built the first underwear bomb. >> this is a very clever guy, very good at making bombs. he's probably the number one threat to the united states directly. >> reporter: officials say the cia seized the explosives before the bomber purchased tickets. it's not clear what happened to the suspect. >> what this incident makes clear is that this country has

to continue to remain vigilant against those who would seek to attack this country. we'll do everything necessary to keep america safe. >> reporter: federal transportation officials say there will be no notable changes this airport security because of this plot. the white house says president obama was made aware of the plot last month. >> thank you. the tsa says the bomb did not contain metal and could have slipped through metal detectors without being noticed. a dangerous weapon in one person's luggage. they spotted the 9-millimeter glock yesterday. he forgot the gun was still in his carry on bag, but he was still arrested. in a video released, he begs president obama to comply with

living in the woods near the church, and getting help from the food bank. he somehow got a gun and opened fire killing marry margaret. >> he didn't think that he would actually go that far. they're saying it was over food. he thinks it was more deeper with, you know, franklin. >> reporter: she says his world collapsed after a rocky divorce and trouble in what had been a successful landscaping business. >> it was thriving very well, and then things went downhill. everybody has their times where it's up aped down. >> reporter: police do not believe he targeted the two women. they believe he wept in the church and shot anyone they saw. church leaders vow to continue to serve the community.

it's cloudy and 63 degrees right now. the complete forecast is coming up. watch as this landslide blocks a highway. evacuating people from the dangerous area. no injuries have been reported. a knife attack is caught on camera. it shows a man with a knife approaching a woman and her 4-year-old daughter. the woman told police she ran away thinking the attacker would follow her. the young girl was able to get away. when the woman came back, the attacker stabbed her. the suspect is still on the loose. military investigators are still trying to determine how a soldier in afghanistan died while he was on a video chat with his wife. captain bruce clark was not

little girl. my heartbreaks for her. >> reporter: an suv runs over her. the driver is her own mother. >> she was running outside to tell my sister something. >> reporter: what happened that morning is a tragedy that plays out at least twice a week across the country and in 70% of these back-up accidents, a parent or relative is behind the wheel. >> it's still so hard for your sister to talk about what's happened. >> it wasn't a car accident. it was much worse than a car accident. the only person my sister could blame was herself. >> reporter: she begged her to warn others about the danger lurking behind their wheel. >> make sure this doesn't happen. you can do that. >> reporter: just last month, a man pulling out of a parking space never sees 5-year-old samia jones behind him. >> you never get closure on something like this. >> reporter: between 2006-2010, nearly 450 children died in

back-up accidents. that's more than twice the number killed in the previous five years. even in small to mid-sized suvs like this one, there are big blind spots. in the side view mirror, all is clear. nothing in the rear-view mirror either. if i backed up right now, look at what's at risk -- this stroller right in the blind spot. which is easy to see with this rear view camera. if you drive a mini van, your blind spot is up to 28 feet. an suv is 39. and if you're at the wheel of a truck, it can be a whopping 50 feet. >> it can happen to anybody, anywhere, any time. your kid's, someone else's kids. >> reporter: they want cameras in all of them. >> i figured by now this would have been done. >> reporter: requiring back up cameras in all new vehicles by the beginning of this year. the government delayed it to do more studies.

near pittsburgh, youngstown, ohio, most of this is moving away from us. take a look at temperatures now. still pretty mild, 63, 45 dew point. south, southeast winds. we've had a lot of easterly winds that bring that moisture off the ocean. the barometer holding steady. showers early, 59 ocean city, and a 58 over in easton. right now they had clear skies there but will cloud up overnight. right now, southeast wind has come down. tomorrow, the winds out of the south. that will bring us warmer air. with warmer air and sunshine, things can get percolating in

the atmosphere. this afternoon showers and storms from chicago down to portions of tennessee valley. most of that's out of the way. this will regenerate along this front. you see the showers out in ohio we mentioned. we had them there. the next front will move across our region later in the day tomorrow into maybe late tomorrow night into wednesday before it slows down. looks like it's going to stall out. that means more rain expected on wednesday. then it begins to clear out and get cooler and drier sometime on thursday. maybe a few clouds in the afternoon. we have a pretty good shot of getting a half inch of rain or more between tomorrow and wednesday night. the bay temperature around 63. for tonight, maybe a spotty shower or a sprinkle here and there. 54 degrees tomorrow morning. clouds for the most part. 74, some showers, and then showers and thundershower
